    Detailed description:

According to music experts, the villanella appeared in the second half of the 15th century in Naples and, in translation from Italian, it means “a rural song”. Actually, a villanella is a polyphonic song that peasants sang during field work. There are satirical, humorous, playful, lyric and social villanellas, as well as villanellas about everyday rural life. Villanellas were performed either a cappella or to a lute accompaniment.
